There are songs that can take us back to a very specific place. For us here at #themovieden, those songs quite often take us back to specific movies. Today we want to honor all those great diddies, and share some of our favorite tunes with you!
“500 miles (I wanna be)” by The Proclaimers featured in Benny and Joon (1993)
This song just makes us happy. This whole movie just makes us happy. And with this song grooving in the background we know it’ll make you happy.
“Main Theme” by Danny Elfman featured in Black Beauty (1994)
We have such a soft spot for soundtracks, and this one is close to king. It’s melodic sweetness makes you feel bright and hopeful. It gives us all the feels.
“Girl, You’ll Be a Woman Soon” by Urge Overkill (Originally by Neil Diamond) featured in Pulp Fiction (1994)
Tarantino sure knows how to pick his stuff. And this song is no exception. We can’t help but want to move when this song plays.
“Mrs. Robinson” by Simon and Garfunkel featured in The Graduate (1967)
This song is such a classic. We hear the happy tune but can’t help but feel the sad as it's used near the end of this film.
“All Star” by Smash Mouth featured in Shrek (2001)
If it hadn’t been for Smash Mouth how would we have ever learned only shooting stars break the mold? We are so grateful to have been taught that fact at such a young age.
“Young and Beautiful” by Lana Del Ray featured in The Great Gatsby (2013)
Lana Del Ray has such an airy smoothness to her voice, and it perfectly played into the feeling of this movie.
“Where is my mind?” by The Pixies featured in Fight Club (1999)
If this song doesn’t perfectly fit the anarchy that was this classic flick, I don’t know of any song that would. Hearing this song as the city crumbles, definitely gives this movie that edge.
“Pretty Woman” by Roy Orbison featured in Pretty Woman (1990)
We love the energy of this song, we feel like we can take on anyone and do anything. It’s got spunk and class and we can’t get enough.
"Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen featured in Wayne's World (1992)
Freddie Mercury is so incredible, and we can't help but go gaga over Queen as a whole. This song gave us one classic scene. We can't not Wayne and Garth to this song.
"The Chain" by Fleetwood Mac featured in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)
This song starts one amazing fight scene, and we can't help but get bounds of energy when we jam.
And so many more….
