Our Favorite Wes Anderson Films

Wes Anderson is one of the greats. His quirky, unique movies always keep us entertained and interested in his unique style of filmmaking. That’s why here at #themovieden, we are honoring him with the title of Director of the Day. Wes Anderson started is feature directorial career in 1996 with the film, Bottle Rocket. From there, Anderson has given us a variety of films to appreciate. Here’s a list of what we think are the five best Wes Anderson films.


Max Fischer loves to be busy. The “extracurricular king” of Rushmore Prepatory School has a lot to deal with after he’s put on academic probation.

The Tenenbaums are an interesting crew. They aren’t the closest but a family tragedy will bring them all back together.

Oceanographer Steve Zissou must avenge the death of his friend and professional partner Esteban du Plantier. Bringing along his trusty crew, Steve will sail the seas and hunt the mysterious Jaguar shark.

A wonderful love story featuring the forbidden love of Sam Shakusky and Suzy Bishop, and their New England trek to sanctuary.

Gustave H and his loyal lobby boy Zero Moustafa man the Grand Budapest Hotel. They end up in midst of a theft and other shenanigans that delay prevent their quality service to the hotel they love.
There are various elements that make an Anderson film so unique. The famous director typically uses color and symmetry as themes throughout his movies.
He also typically features many of the same actors in his movies. Bill Murray, Owen Wilson, Willem Dafoe and Jeff Goldblum are frequent collaborators of Andersons.
Music also plays a large part in the style of an Anderson film. He typically features music from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. The variety and older style add a unique element to his works.
We love Wes Anderson and appreciate all that he has contributed to the film community!!
